In the contemporary world the fossil fuels provide much of our energy, and in burning them we are liberating dangerous amounts of greenhouse gas to the atmosphere which is causing global warming and eventually climate change. There is now near universal agreement that this must be severely curtailed within the next few decades, otherwise our planet will experience dangerous consequences. This is both a threat and an opportunity, and because the changes to come in the next half-century will be profound, they are particularly relevant to younger people.
The good news is that we have the practical solutions at hand to dramatically reduce our carbon emissions, slow the pace of global warming, and pass on a healthier, safer world to future generations. However, it is really significant to take immediate action to address Global Warming or these consequences will continue to intensify, grow ever more costly, and increasingly affect the entire planet. For these reasons, we feel strongly that all Pakistanis, especially the young ones and their families, should be given chance to understand climate change as soon as possible.
The focus of “Cool our Planet (Fall 2016)” was to combat Global Warming – the most critical issue of the contemporary world. Global warming, which is a gradual rising of Earth’s temperature, is different from all threats to our world, representing a scale of threat greater than anything humans have faced in recent history. No doubt, our responsible and timely approach could save our planet from the serious impacts of Global Warming and can save the future of all lives on the planet.
The students from grades preschool to 12 could participate in ‘Cool our Planet’ which was classified in 4 categories in accordance with the students’ educational grades.
Category 1 (Grades preschool to 2), Category 2 (Grades 3 to 5)
Category 3 (Grades 6 to 8) & Category 4 (Grades 9 to 12)
As a productive way of forwarding Environmental Education to kids and through kids to their families, each Green Angel was encouraged to make 4 supporters (among the family members), and to attempt the Quiz in association, with the support from the guidebooks. The category-wise Guidebooks were developed in line with the learning potentials of Green Angels in their respective grades and the Supporters’ productive role in making them more comprehensible for the Green Angels.
Results of Cool Our Planet
We thank all of the entrants for helping make the Quiz a mega success in extending awareness to combat Global Warming. Due to space limits here you can find the names of only few National Winners. Besides these winners are 200 plus campus winners to achieve Super Green Angels’ prizes. Then are 300 plus medal winners and thousands of Green Angels who have received Appreciation Certificates on their wonderful participation.
To present our sincere tribute to the Campus Administrators with their best participation we have presented shields and recognition prizes to the winner administrators.
We arranged to send all prizes to the respective campuses within January 2017.
