Green Stewardship activity was part of GLA’s 3rd five yearly campaign ‘Collective Action to Check Climate Change’ (CATCH – 2017-21) in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goal No. 13; Climate Action.
Climate change is now affecting every country on every continent. It is disrupting national economies and affecting lives, costing people, communities and countries dearly today and even more tomorrow. Weather patterns are changing, sea levels are rising, weather events are becoming more extreme and greenhouse gas emissions are now at their highest levels in history. Without action, the world’s average surface temperature is likely to surpass 3 degrees centigrade this century. The poorest and most vulnerable people are being affected the most.
Affordable, scalable solutions are now available to enable countries to leapfrog to cleaner, more resilient economies. The pace of change is quickening as more people are turning to renewable energy and a range of other measures that will reduce emissions and increase adaptation efforts. Climate change, however, is a global challenge that does not respect national borders. It is an issue that requires solutions that need to be coordinated at the international level to help developing countries move toward a low-carbon economy.
Green Stewardship was a highly creative and jointly organised activity to bring a big change by involving our youth and their families because if they change their focus from non-productive and aimless activities to campaigning for environment protection – their collective contribution will bring an enormous impact. Green Stewardship offers basic environmental science concepts, especially how human activity has led to climate change and global warming, and how our focused and planned action could effectively address the challenge. Such an inspiration developed by the Green Stewardship has great potential of developing the lives of the young Green-Stewards in many ways, such as:
- Development of the young children into altruistic and responsible beings to secure environment
- Advancement of such inspiration to the fellow citizens to reduce their carbon footprint by developing their ordinary lifestyles into Green Living
- Global recognition as the young Green-Stewards with the presentation of Green Stewardship Certification.
Green Stewardship aimed at firstly educating the students to know about the critical environmental challenges faced by our homeland/ planet and then to develop them to lead the society in successfully addressing those challenges, especially Climate Change. Green Stewardship proved to be an exceptional activity offering latest environmental knowledge through the guidebooks, inviting to reproduce the knowledge in the worksheets and then inspiring the participants to transform their knowledge into action plans after having green brainstorming.
To recognise the commendable role performed by the Green Stewards in the development of society we have announced for them Green Stewardship Certification as a Global Recognition.
In making the activity even more inspiring GLA has announced a wide range of more prizes and awards for the participants besides offering Green Stewardship Certification. Other prizes include Rs. 100,000 Cash Prize, Laptops, LED Monitors, Gold and Silver Medals, Green Home Appliances, Green Stewards Insignias and Honour Shields.
Green Stewardship – Announcement of Results
Green Living Association cordially congratulates the participants for your participation in ‘Green Stewardship’ and expression of such wonderful performance. Green Stewardship was aimed at developing students as Green Stewards not only to bring Green-Living in their lives but also to help them leading their fellow citizens to successfully address the critical environmental challenges like Climate Change. No doubt, our responsible and timely approach could save our planet from the serious impacts of ‘Climate Change‘ in giving humans healthier lives and in saving many species from extinction.
Due to space limits here you can find the names of the National Winners. Besides these winners are 200 plus campus winners to achieve Super Green Stewards’ prizes. Then are 300 plus medal winners and thousands of Green Stewards who have received Participation Certificates on their wonderful participation.
As a matter of appreciation, GLA has decided to present certificates to all Green Stewards who submitted their registration to ‘Green Stewardship’ regardless of their submission of the filled Quiz Sheets back.
We have dispatched the prizes to the respective campuses which are supposed to receive until 22nd December 2018. We have arranged to send the prizes for the National Winners (the Crown, Star and Bright Green Stewards) through special hand carry service of TCS.
